It’s been announced that Ofsted is going to issue guidance for inspectors on the use of restraint.
The fundamental change is that inspectors are to be encouraged to look beyond whether the use of restraint was legally justified but more at whether it was the best thing for the child. Inspectors will also be looking at learning taken from this and how this translates into improved outcomes/practice.
